HUNGRY GHOST - Violent Soho

The first Australian band I was genuinely crazy about! I was in year 9 and just got home from a French exchange trip and had to hang around at a shopping centre in Sydney before my parents could pick me up. I went to a Sanity to kill the time (remember those stores? The best places ever!) and was instantly attracted to the album artwork of what was Hungry Ghost. I hadn’t listened to Soho before but was a massive Nirvana fan and the shop attendant told me “if you like Nirvana, these guys will blow you away”. 

I grabbed the CD, got picked up and was taken to my cousins house for the night where I listened to the album on repeat until I fell asleep. INCREDIBLE!!!! I wanted to go kick something and release all of my teenage angst. They were also the first band I ever saw live with my best mate. We had to leave the gig early because we were on our P’s and had to get home from the city before the 11pm curfew, so got pulled over the barricade from the front row and walked along the stage front, a memory I’ll never forget!
