Fry ‘Til You Die

Acrylic on ply

2019

Baby fish dream of one day becoming the image of your local chip shops’ “WORLD FAMOUS FISH ‘N’ CHIPS”. But have you ever wondered how dull and boring it would sound to lose the first word of the beloved coastal delicacy due to rising sea temperatures and overfishing? This pondered my mind while watching the whole of Sydney tucking into some fish and chips in Kiama.

Next Gen.

The diminishing of our coral reefs has more of an impact on humans than you may think. The pretty, coloured parts of coral (zooxanthellae) remove as much, if not more, Co2 from the atmosphere than trees. Due to the bleaching and destruction of major reef systems, coral farms are now in order to restore the next generation of corals, contributing to the battle against climate change.

Toxic Life

Acrylic on ply

2019

How amazing would it be if we could expel all toxic traits from our lives? Humans are not strong enough, nor resilient enough to force such change on themselves. Our natural environment though, is forced to withstand such human toxicity in our ever-growing world. When left alone to thrive, nature always wins.

Life Line

Solar power is our best solution to clean and renewable energy. Forests function due to it, reefs thrive off it, humans need it and so do our ‘green’ electronics. Flick the switch off and plug into solar power.

Bleach Bath

Acrylic on ply

2019

Baths are good for relieving stress. Maybe even healthy! I don’t know, I am not a doctor. I do know though, that the rising sea temperatures is putting so much stress on our reefs that the inhabiting corals are being bleached and dying. Poor buggers don’t even get to enjoy a relaxing bath...

Dry July

Acrylic on play

2019

Alcoholic hipsters love to participate in ‘Dry July’ to show their charitable side. Mother Nature doesn’t care for that though. She has had enough of her neglect, so guess what that means… YES! No water for you! Your dog will happily fill your glass up for you though.

Aloha

Acrylic on ply

2019

Who doesn’t love a family holiday during a national crisis? The rich and powerful leaders do obviously. The monotonous lifestyle of lining your pockets and flaunting braindead ideas becomes a bit too stressful when the lives and livelihoods of others become involved. So next time you’re faced with a tough choice in your life, book a flight and piss off!

Hot Tub

2019

The warmer waters may feel like the ‘never-ending summer’ but all good things must come to an end. That saying goes for multiple subjects… With the rising sea levels, coastal towns are feeling the changes with full force. Eroding shorelines, damaged houses, animal habitats permanently destroyed and the forced relocation of many species has caused everlasting impacts on the natural environment. Not to mention the Heads going underwater whenever there is a rare ‘sprinkle’ of rain.

Coastal Living

Acrylic on ply

2019

A real image of the realities of the 2020 summer holidays on the south coast. One minute we are packing our houses ready to leave when the fires arrive. The next, we are packing our boats to flee our drowning houses. The hassle is really worth the high price tag! Welcome to the Shoalhaven.

Green Machine

 Acrylic on ply

2019

The future of transport is here. Solar charged electric cars! With an engine so quiet you could hear a pin drop; these cars are perfect for sneaking out at midnight to do some burnouts. They are also environmentally conscious, so it’s a win-win for the green-thumbed rev-head! Way to go.

Connection

 Acrylic on ply

2019

The connection a plant has to the sun is stronger than that of north and south facing magnets. Plants need the sun to grow (that is common year 7 science knowledge) but maybe if we think deeper; are plants and flowers trying to tell us something? Maybe that humans need the sun for life too and that we should harvest its natural abilities to sustainably power the planet?

Next Step

 Acrylic on ply

2019

We have destroyed the planet much more rapidly than previously anticipated by scientists, with that rate of destruction showing no signs of slowing. What do we do now? It is simple. The planet needs to adopt renewable practises to provide for this fast-changing world. SOLAR POWER!
